Else had been a prominent medium and crime clairvoyant in Germany in the 1910s and 20s, but became famous throughout Europe and the United States during the Insterburger Hexenprozess of 1928, a court trial which in later decades was often referred to as the last European witch trial.
Newspapers on both continents wrote about the sensational trial.
Else was triumphantly freed after months of imprisonment and grueling tests of her powers in court, as well as the testimonies of more than one hundred witnesses who took the stand in support of her extraordinary abilities.
The trial made Else a celebrity medium on both sides of the Atlantic, but her clairvoyant gifts had already been evident in childhood and present throughout her entire life.
Else was my great great grandaunt. I first discovered our connection when I read the diaries of my great grandfather.
I intend to share my collection of information about Else, published in either English or German, and translated where necessary, to honor her legacy. I also hope to continue to gather information about her from sources knowledgeable about eminent occult figures of the early 20th century. Please contact me with any information you may have! I would be so grateful.
